The English as a Second Language Adult Program held at the Bayonne Public Library is now closed. We have reached the maximum number of learners we can accommodate at this time. We will open a waiting list next week. As the semester goes on, we often have more seats available. For now, there is no more space in any of our classes. Beginning October 12, we will accept new applications for our wait list. When a seat opens up, we will contact you.
We wish we could accommodate everyone, but as a volunteer-run program, we are limited in the number of classes we are able to offer. Please be patient and come back to the website next week to complete an application at the top of the page.
If you have already been tested, you will be notified when your classes will be held in an email that will be sent to you Sunday, October 11. Classes will start the week of October 13. There is no class Monday, October 12, due to the Columbus Day holiday.

About the Bayonne English as a Second Language Program
The classes are open to anyone in the Bayonne area seeking to learn or improve their English skills. Each class is run by a volunteer teacher, and focuses on life-skill communications. For example, talking to your children’s teachers, understanding your neighbors and being able to shop, visit the doctor and help your children in school. We offer a fun, informal and supportive environment for adults of all ages, from 18 years and older.
Please note: No children are allowed in class. There is no babysitting service available with this program.
The program is offered in partnership with the Bayonne Public Library.
Classes will be held at the library, located at 697 Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ Enter through door on 31st Street
Our learners find friendship and support during and after classes.
At the Bayonne Adult ESL Program, our learners enjoy a relaxed, friendly environment to study English.

IN MEMORIAM
In 2004, Sister Kay Coll, a Sister with the order of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chestnut Hill, PA, saw a need in Bayonne for an Adult English as a Second Language program, and embarked on this initiative. Our guiding light and our founder, she passed from this life in February of 2024. She remains our inspiration and our heart.
